Have a garage sale! Collect all those unwanted presents, get rid of gently used clothes and dust off those electronics that you don't use anymore. You don't have to run an expensive ad anymore to get people to come to the sale. If you put up signs, they WILL come! And they will show up early. I also post on Craigslist.com for free and posted the ad on my FB account. Easy!
Also, get the spouse and kids involved...they each can grab a couple things from their rooms or shelves to sell at the sale. My kids even made a hot chocolate/lemonade stand and they made $12 bucks!!
At the end of the sale we donated left over books and clothing to two local charities!
A few good tips are: Always place the items you want to sell first on a table. Also, don't price each and every item, that takes too much time! Tell people when they arrive, if they are interested in an item, please let you know and you will make sure the price is right for both of you...and I tell the people, the more you buy the better the price!
